Requirements for the Classes

AGE

VACCINATIONS Rabies record must be current and a copy must be brought to the first class. No one will be admitted without a copy of the dog's current rabies vaccination record, as required by Louisiana State Law. Tags will not be accepted.

EQUIPMENT

A 6-foot leather leash. The width of the leash will vary with the size of the dog. Leashes that are too wide or too narrow for the dog being trained will not produce the desired results. Leashes can be purchased in class. Leashes purchased through JCM's are guaranteed for life. If the leash is chewed, damaged, or destroyed in any way, it will be repaired or replaced, but you must return the hook.

A Properly Fitting metal choke chain. Choke chains are used on dogs that don't pull excessively and require subtle reinforcement. When used properly, and on a dog with the correct temperament, the choke chain is all you will need. The chain should be just large enough to fit snugly over the largest part of the dog's head. The choke chain can be purchased in class. If purchased through JCM's, your choke chain will be replaced with a larger size as your dog grows.

A Pinch Collar. If your dog is difficult to walk or very unruly you will be required to start with a pinch collar. This collar serves two purposes. First, it cannot damage your dogs windpipe, as can a buckle collar or choke chain. Secondly, this collar simulates a dominant dog taking control, therefore putting you in control. This versatile training collar is actually 3 collars in one. Pinch Collars may be purchased in class. Pinch Collars purchased through JCM's will be bought back for the full purchase price when no longer needed.
